Why is handcrafted soap different from store bought soap?

Handcrafted soap is very mild and quite effective at nourishing delicate skin types. Commercially produced soap is made with a lot of synthetic ingredients that strip your skin of its natural oils. It is very prone to drying out your skin. All soap has naturally produced glycerin made in its manufacturing process. Glycerin in soap acts like a humectant and draws moisture to your skin from the air. Commercially produced bar soap has its glycerin extracted and put in other body products such as creams and lotions. This is a ploy used by these companies to get you to purchase their other body products because your skin will be dried out and deprived from their soap bars. Handcrafted soap can help make your skin feel soft and supple while at the same time providing a bit of conditioning. My bar soaps contain no preservatives or harsh ingredients. I invite you to try out a bar today and notice the difference in your skin.

How is soap made?

Soap is made with fats/oils, water, and sodium hydroxide also known as lye. It is impossible to make soap without sodium hydroxide. It is a necessary component to make soap and have it go through a process called saponification. This process is started by combining all the ingredients at exact temperatures and in exact percentages. The molecules of the ingredients rearrange themselves to turn the mixture into soap. There is never any lye left in the finished bars of soap as all the ingredients are carefully weighed to ensure the correct ratio of the ingredients are precise. The soap mixture is then poured into a mold and is insulated for 24 hours while it finishes with the saponification process. After 24 hours the soap is unmolded, cut, and put on curing racks for six weeks while it hardens and excess water evaporates. The end result is that you get to enjoy a bar that lathers very well and provides conditioning for your skin.

Are your products handmade?

Yes. All products are created exclusively by hand in small batches with the freshest oils and butters available.

Do you test on animals?

No way. I test each and every product I create on myself. My formulations are backed with solid years of research and development. In many ways I am the senior guinea pig while employing friends and family to help me out with testing formulations too. I am always looking for new testers of products that I hope to add to my existing line in the near future. Wanna be a tester? Shoot me an email and I can provide the details. Testers receive very generous discounts on future orders.

How should I store your soap bars?

It is recommended that the soaps are stored in a slotted soap dish to allow for proper water drainage. This type of soap dish keeps your soap dry between uses and out of a puddle of water in your shower. It also allows your soap to last longer so you can fully enjoy your product. Unused bars should simply be stored in their package in a dry and cool place. All soaps measure 2 1/8 X 3 1/8 and weigh a minimum of 4.0 oz.

Do you offer custom orders in my favorite scent?

Yes. Everyone's likes are quite different which is why I offer custom batches in your specific fragrance. You may contact me for pricing details. Please be aware this process involves a six week cure time in addition to a week or more to order any fragrances or essential oils that I do not currently have in stock.
